Powerline Technician (Nova Scotia Power)

Nova Scotia Power is hiring: Powerline Technician, Halifax, NS.

• 14 permanent positions in Regional Operations: Coldbrook (2), Sydney Townsend (3), Truro (2), Bridgewater (2), Dartmouth, Guysborough, Parrsboro, Sackville and Goshen
• Line maintenance and construction, customer service work including one-person work and trouble response; you may be sent to other areas of the province
• Pay is $50.35 an hour under the IBEW Local 1928 collective agreement
• Needs an Interprovincial Red Seal Powerline Technician certificate and a Class 3 Nova Scotia licence with 2 years of driving; a driver’s abstract covering 5 years must be uploaded with the application; last-year apprentices are considered only if no qualified candidates apply
• Must live within 30 minutes of the headquarters and be available for after-hours restoration and rotating standby; safety-sensitive (pre-employment alcohol and drug test)
• It is a bargaining unit job: external applicants are considered only if no qualified union-member candidates apply
