Clear Creek stream restoration and dam removal, SR 509

WSDOT wants a contractor to remove two dams and rebuild a stretch of Clear Creek along SR 509, with heavy channel and earthwork.

What to know before you bid:

  • Scope: take out two dams and other obstructions, divert the stream temporarily, then regrade and restore a section of Clear Creek with large woody material, streambed sediment and planting.
  • Earthwork is the bulk of it: roughly 19,000 CY roadway excavation, 15,000 CY embankment compaction, 9,300 CY channel excavation and 10,800 tons of streambed sediment, plus erosion control and clearing.
  • Contract time is 300 working days. Conditions of award include 5% small business and 2% veteran-owned participation, and a 15% apprentice utilization requirement.
  • Bidders must be WSDOT-prequalified (application due 15 days before opening) and attach a 5% bid deposit or bond.
  • Submit sealed in Olympia, by mail, or electronically through Bid Express by the deadline; plans are ordered through WSDOT’s contracting opportunities site.
